What is PRINCE2?

The PRINCE2^® Project Management methodology is a long-established and continually evolving project management method —now in its 7th edition— that has become the 'de facto' standard in the United Kingdom and Europe, with increasing ubiquity to command worldwide recognition.

PRINCE2 Training and Courses

PRINCE2`^®` - Foundation

The foundation level is aimed not only at project managers but also at team members, project support, and office or operational staff. The goal is to give delegates sufficient knowledge and understanding of PRINCE2^® to enable them to effectively work with or support an environment using PRINCE2^®.

Training Material

Included in the fee for our Foundation Training courses are both the official PeopleCert PRINCE2 manual 'Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2^®' and our specially developed 300-page training manual, which take students beyond 'just the foundation theory'.

This 300 page manual includes:

Copies of all presentation slides
Additional study material and questions for private study
Two foundation-style practice exams
Four A3 charts of PRINCE2^® processes and practices

Additionally, we have a selection of online videos as 'pre-course' study, plus an assortment of videos available to 'members only' for extra private study.

To complete the course successfully, delegates do not need to bring any other material with them.

Length of Foundation Training

Northern Project Management recommends that Foundation training should last three complete days, which can include the examination taken during the last hour or online at a later date. Although the standard option is a three-day workshop, the three days do not need to be taken consecutively – options include:

Open Groups – as advertised:

One day per week over three weeks
Weekend (Saturday, Sunday, plus the following Saturday/Sunday)
Three-day 'crash' training (consecutive days)

Companies – three one-day or six half-day workshops
Private/Individual – flexible training via video conference or 'live' face-to-face (contact us for details)

PRINCE2`^®` - Practitioner

A prerequisite of training is that the delegate has already achieved 'Foundation' level status. Practitioner training is directed towards project managers (or budding project managers), key personnel, team managers, or operational staff and managers involved in the design or delivery of projects.

Beyond the skills already learnt, Practitioner delegates will gain a sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2^® to any given situation.

Delegates who have taken our foundation course will already have the official ‘Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2^®’ manual and our foundation workbook. To be successful in the training, delegates need no extra material.

Included in our training fee are the following:

PRINCE2^® Practitioner Examination fees
Hand-outs of all the practitioner presentations slides
Online videos, including 'how to use' the official PRINCE2 manual
Two complete walk-through project scenarios
Three complete practitioner-sytle sample examinations

The material and workshops are designed to take delegates above and beyond the standard required only to 'pass the Practitioner examination'. You can be assured of achieving your desired pass, and additionally, post-training, you will have the confidence to face any new project challenge with vivacity.

Length of Practitioner Training

A two-day workshop is usually adequate enough to prepare delegates to a standard sufficient enough to be able to sit and pass the Practitioner examination – the examination being scheduled for the last 2½ hours of our training or online at a later date.

Training may be arranged as follows:

Companies - two one-day (or four half-day workshops)
Private/Individual - please contact us to discuss your requirements
Open Groups - two full day sessions (on consequent days or over 2 weeks), or 4 evenings (as advertised)
